This is a good time to start gathering some photos and home videos that could be used later in the final film.
Step 3: The Interview
We schedule a time that works for you and your loved one. The interview is casual and conversational. Most people say it feels like a conversation with a friend rather than a performance.
This is done in a relaxed setting, like a living room. We handle the setup, the lighting, and the pacing so you don't have to worry about anything technical. Your loved one just shows up and shares their story.
Step 4: All the Magic🪄 Happens
After the interview, we take care of the editing. We clean up the video, add in titles, photos and videos that you provide, and craft a final product that's beautiful, professional, and heartfelt.
Step 5: Enjoy!

This is fairly typical, most of us are not on camera on a regular bases. We take the time to get the individual comfortable in the setting, reassure them that we can cut or re-take any responses, and make the process fun and inviting. The tone is conversational and relaxed. Once we start our conversation, most people forget all about the camera.
How long does the recording process take?
You can expect the interview to last up to a couple of hours for each individual. This depends on the number of subjects covered and the amount of detail. I am flexible and the interview process can be broken up into smaller sessions and even over multiple days.
With the smartphones these days, can't I just do it myself?
Yes, you can! I believe more people should be capturing their family's story and passing it on to future generations and I cannot produce a film for everyone.
Although, hopefully I've shown to you that a film produced by Timepiece Media will not look like a "smartphone" video. It will be a high quality product that's hassle free for you. You won't need to worry about the lighting, the audio, aligning the camera for the best angle, editing out the motorcycle noise as it raced past the house or the dog barking next door, having enough memory for 4 hrs of 4K footage, editing the 4 hrs of footage and rearranging sections to make the story flow, and . . . I think you get the point.
